Types of Noses

Nasal Hair

The purpose of nasal hair is to filter dust and other particles from air which enters the nose. These hairs grow on the skin that lines the vestibule, which is that part of the nasal cavity immediately above the nostril. Surprisingly to some, the nostril does not comprise the whole nasal cavity. The nostrils are actually just the external openings to the nose.

Nasal hair can range from being finely textured and colored to being dark, coarse and bushy

Even my nose hair is white!

As we become older we lose hair in some places and develop growths in others, such as the nose and ear. Hair in the nose has one thing in common with you other bodily hair - it grows and usually adopts your natural hair color. So when the hair on your head turns white, you will also notice that your nose hair is white.

What do I do when even my nose hair is white? Well, there's no point in dyeing firstly because removing dye from skin is difficult and secondly because you don't want to be inhaling the toxic chemicals on a daily basis. The best way to manage nasal hair is to keep it under control.

Trimming is the best option. And no, this won't make them grow back thicker or faster.  Various hair trimmers have been designed just for this purpose and should be used rather than scissors. Plucking is definitely not recommended as this can cause damage to the sensitive skin.

Removing these pesky hairs can be potentially dangerous so always put safety first and read manufacturers' instructions and warning.
